About

Swedish artist Erica Eriksson completed her master’s degree at Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, Norway, in 2008. Prior to that she studied painting at Pernby’s Målarskola in Stockholm and art history at Stockholm University. On top of art studies, she has completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology (BSc Honors, 2015) at the Open University, U.K. and has studied photography and retouch as part of her art studies and whilst working for photographer Leonard Gren.

Erica Eriksson’s interest in the human mind and behavior is interconnected with her art. Identity, story telling, imagination and reflections of the human spirit and experience is at the core of her work.

Erica's conceptual photo based work is based on sculpting small-scale clay models of the human figure and turning them into new life-like individuals, captured in photographic portraits. It is a slow workflow that poses an alternative to contemporary fast-paced creation and digestion of photographs and embodied expressions.
